If you've driven down Birch Street over the past few months, there's a good chance you've seen the GreenRoots Design Firm sign and landscaping transformation at work.
From planting trees and perennials to installing benches carefully planned and placed, we've been proud to play a role in one of Kennett Square's most exciting revitalization projects. Seeing the community gather for the Birch Street ribbon cutting on June 11 was a rewarding milestone, not just for everyone involved in the project, but for everyone who calls Kennett home. The Birch Street transformation is part of a larger vision to create safer, more beautiful, and more connected public spaces that strengthen the heart of our community.
Bringing Birch Street to Life
Great streets are about more than pavement and sidewalks, they’re about creating places where people want to gather.
GreenRoots Design Firm was honored to complete the streetscape planting throughout Birch Street, helping soften the urban environment with thoughtfully selected trees, shrubs, ornamental grasses, and seasonal plantings designed to thrive for years to come.
In addition to the streetscape landscaping, GreenRoots partnered with Square Roots was able to add landscaping in front of several businesses and service providers on Birch Street. Including the spaces in front of Square Roots Collective, The Creamery, and other local businesses and services that continue to shape this growing destination.
Each planting was designed with long-term beauty, sustainability, and the character of Kennett Square in mind.

The transformation of Birch Street continues, and we're excited to be partnering on another addition to the neighborhood.
GreenRoots Design Firm is currently working alongside the team behind the new restaurant, Opus, to create a landscape that complements its architecture and contributes to the welcoming atmosphere that Birch Street has become known for.
As new businesses continue to invest in Kennett Square, we're grateful for every opportunity to help shape outdoor spaces that enhance both the visitor experience and the community as a whole.
